The power of screen time vs ride rime
Checking Instagram to see if the ride is canceled is like asking the Butcher what time the Pizza shop opens.
A perfect example of how disconnected our digital habits can be from the real world around us.
At 5:00 am, I woke up, got ready, and rode to the starting location - only to find myself alone.
Not because the conditions weren’t perfect, but because I hadn’t scrolled through an endless feed to catch the cancellation update.
It was understandable that the ride was called off the night before due to the possibility of wet and slippery roads as safety always comes first.
After quickly checking the weather app, the radar was clear, with only a 10% chance of rain. Conditions were perfect at a balmy 18º for riding.
No one

Yet, from a regular group of 50–80 riders, not a single person showed up.
Social media keeps us in a loop of constant updates, making us afraid to miss something online - yet in doing so, we miss out on real experiences.
The fresh air, the camaraderie, and the simple joy of riding together, all lost because we relied on a screen instead of stepping outside.
Let’s shift our focus, break free from digital distractions, and get back to what truly matters. Riding together. Be present. Make real world connections. 🚲
